Wagon Wheel - The Perfect Putting Drill

At 8 feet, you’re in that sweet spot where the Tour pros make roughly 50%, single-digit handicaps around 40%, and most 15–20 handicappers about 30%. That means this is the distance that separates good from great on the greens — and it’s where your mechanics, speed control, and read all show up at once. Here’s where it gets educational: On straight putts, focus on starting line and pace. On slight breaks, aim around 1" outside cup and commit to the roll. On average slopes, your start line is about around 4" outside the cup. On heavier breaks, you’ll be looking around 8" or more outside. Those subtle adjustments train your predictions of slope, your capture speed feedback for speed, and your stroke to refine start-line control. Every make and miss becomes valuable data — was it the read, the speed, or the start line? Understanding that feedback loop is where real improvement begins. valuable data — was it the read, the speed, or the start line?
